Bargain mentality encourages copying. And people support bargain mentality.
The brilliance of the original innovation is lost on the nickel and dime of who can sell for less. Happens with legit parts from various US vendors. Loyalty and consistency are not rewarded in the marketplace by purchasers, therefore vendors have to change their methods.
Who here can say they buy a part for more money from someone because they like them and encourage their business, versus buying the same part from someone who is offering it for $ 5.00 less? THE SAME PART, not a copy... you'll spring for it, why, it's cheaper!
The threads on this are countless. Our own Z Club (of whom I happen to be president... fancy that!) have a solid group of people who are members because we can sorta get discounts at parts vendors...
C'mon, you, me... everyone is guilty of this mentality.
AND their official affiliatied sellers can market copied crap...
Because Human Nature is CHEAP.
Oh, and BTW, our dollar kicks ass.
Not just a Canuckistan thing, after all, the good ol' USA brought in Discount Shopping as a way of life.
Cheers,
